Their heritage stretches back to 1837 when Bird's custard powder was invented by Alfred Bird, and it is still loved by generations today.

Bird's is best known for the original custard powder, that gives you the power to create homemade custard perfect for you and your family.

This custard powder is so versatile... add cocao to make chocolate custard, how about trying to mix in brandy or rum to pour over Christmas cake, or simply mix with cream to make confectioner's custard.

Storage & Handling

Store in a cool dry place. Keep bag tightly closed after part-use. Best before end: see back of pack.



MICROWAVE From Ambient: To make 1 litre use the following quantities. 1. Mix 50g (2oz) custard powder and 50g (2oz) sugar with 200ml (7 fl oz) milk to a smooth paste. 2. Add a further 800ml (1 pint 8 fl oz) milk and stir well. 3. Microwave on full power (1400 watt microwave) for 1 minute. 4. stir well and microwave for a further 2 minutes. 5. Stir and serve.

ON THE HOB 1. Mix the custard powder and sugar with a small amount of the milk to form a smooth paste. 2. Bring the rest of the milk to the boil in a pan. 3. Gently whisk/stir the paste mixture into the boiling milk. 4. Bring back to the boil, stir until the custard begins to thicken. 
HANDY HINTS & TIPS -If you prefer your custard less thick then top up with milk or cream. -For best results leave to stand for 1 minute before serving. -If put into a Bain Marie custard will thicken during service. You can add a little milk or cream as necessary.
