Solania San Marzano DOP Authentic Whole Peeled Plum Tomatoes - 400g Tin
Amazing quality Italian San Marzano Tomatoes by Solania.
San Marzano tomatoes are widely recognised by chefs as the finest tomatoes in the world, allowing for unrivalled depths of flavour. These plum tomatoes are grown in the rich volcanic soil of Mount Vesuvius, which gives them a sweeter flavour with low acidity, a firm pulp, low water and seed content and deep colour. Real San Marzano tomatoes have a long shape and meaty texture that allows them to be peeled and canned whole without falling apart.
Ways to check that a tin of tomatoes is actually a real San Marzano tomato include the words "Pomodoro San Marzano dell'Agro Sarnese Nocerino DOP", the symbols of the Consorzio and the DOP, as well as a printed number allocated by the Consorzio at the time of tinning.
Solania was founded with the clear intention of cultivating its passion and converting it into genuine specialties. Its name derives from the Latin Solanaceae (the name used to identify the big family to which tomatoes belong).
Solania's mission is to produce genuine products by respecting the natural delicacy of the tomatoes during their transformation.
Use this product in any recipe that requires the true flavour of Italian tomato tradition - a simple pasta al pomodoro, a classic ragu, or rustic soups and stews.
Also known as pomodori pelati (literally "peeled tomatoes"), San Marzano tomatoes are grown in a small area around Naples. The variety has been awarded a DOP by the EU, which specifies the precise cultivar, processing method and region in which the tomatoes can be grown.
“Elongated shape of the berry with parallel longitudinal depressions, bright red color, scarce presence of seeds and placenta! fibers, bright red skin and easy to peel, typically sweet and sour taste:’
The only tomato in the world to have these characteristics is San Marzano DOP. Born in Campania on the slopes of Vesuvius, its roots sink into a land of volcanic nature, fertile and rich in minerals, and its flowers breathe the Mediterranean climate, from the height of their supports. Yes, because the cultivation technique of the plants of San Marzano provides for a vertical type of breeding, respecting a centuries-old tradition.
