The name Ratton Pantry comes from the specific 'Ratton' ward of Eastbourne in which the family business started in 2020. Ratton was once a grand manor house and an extensive Sussex estate.

Dating from medieval times, home of the Parker family, (descendants include Earl Spencer, Princess Diana and the Princes William, Harry and George), for 300 years. In 1762 it was purchased by Sir George Thomas, once governor of Pennsylvania and the Leeward Islands.

Thomas rebuilt the manor in the Georgian style, which was subsequently destroyed by fire December 1891. It was rebuilt by 1899. The estate was broken up in 1918.

Ratton Manor was on the market in 1938, when is was described as having been beautified by Lord Willingdon 1886-1941, (Freeman Freeman-Thomas, 1st Marquess of Willingdon). In December 1940 when occupied by Canadian forces it was badly damaged by fire, it was subsequently destroyed.
